Lions rough up Tebow & Broncos, 45-10 to improve to 6-2
The Detroit Lions flustered Denver's quarterback Tim Tebow with a season-high seven sacks and snapped a two-game losing streak by beating down the Broncos, 45-10, at Sports Authority Field.
At 6-2, the Lions enter their bye week at the midpoint of the season and are firmly in control of their playoff destiny with the third-best record in the NFC.
Matthew Stafford threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns on a sore ankle. Detroit also got two defensive scores and relentless pressure on Tebow.
Cliff Avril had two sacks and returned a fumble 24 yards for a touchdown, and Chris Houston took a Tebow interception 100 yards for a score.
The Lions forced three turnovers in the second half -- the two touchdown returns and a fourth-quarter fumble -- and Denver managed just one first down in the nine drives after its opening score.
