Titans bounce back with 113-69 pounding of Concordia
After a tough loss to Notre Dame in South Bend, IN a few days ago, six Titans scored in double figures as they powered Detroit past the Concordia Cardinals, 113-68 at Calihan Hall. The offensive output was the highest Titan point total since a 115-101 win over Loyola 22 years ago.
It was a night full of milestones for the Titans. Not only did head coach Ray McCallum coach his 100th game for Detroit, but it was also the first 100-point game for UDM in 13 years, and was the 17th-highest point total ever for a Titan team.
Add in career highs from Jason Calliste in triples (6), a double-double from Doug Anderson (12 points, 13 rebounds) and zero Detroit turnovers in the second half, and the score became lopsided in the final half of play. The Titans' 65 points in the final 20 minutes came on 25-of-40 shooting and featured seven three-pointers.
Chase Simon flirted with a triple-double, scoring 12 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists for the Titans. Nick Minnerath added 17 points (15 in the first half).
Detroit will be on the road for the rest of November as they begin their four-game swing this Monday in Bowling Green, Ohio in the sub-regional round of the Progressive CBE Classic.
