Titans roll past Penguins to advance to HL semifinals, 93-76
The #3 Detroit Titans used 60% shooting to race past the #6 Youngstown State Penguins, 93-76 in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Horizon League Tournament.
Detroit (20-13) led by as much as 24 points in the first half as the Titans scored 16 of the game’s first 19 points and never looked back. While it would take 8 minutes & 39 seconds before Ray McCallum scored his first points of the game, the sophomore led Detroit with 22 as Detroit had to fend off a Penguin rally to start the second half.
The action continues this Saturday at 6 pm on the campus of Valparaiso University when the Titans take on #2 Cleveland State in the Horizon League semifinals. The other semifinal is an all-Indiana battle between #1 Valparaiso & #5 Butler. Should Butler win that game & Detroit comes out on top, the Horizone League Championship would be held at Calihan Hall this Tuesday at 9 pm.
