Knicks prevent sweep; 76ers, Celtics, & Lakers lead 3-1
Jrue Holiday busted out of a game-long slump with consecutive 3-pointers that stretched a one-point lead into seven that helped the 8th-seed Philadelphia 76ers beat the top-seed Chicago Bulls, 89-82 to take a 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
Carmelo Anthony scored 41 points and Amare Stoudemire had 20 points & 10 rebounds in his return from a cut hand as the New York Knicks avoided a sweep by snapping an NBA-record, 13-game postseason losing streak after beating the Miami Heat, 89-87 in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
Paul Pierce scored 24 points in 18 minutes before heading to the stationary bicycle in the tunnel leading to the locker room as the Boston Celtics coasted to a 101-79 victory over the Atlanta Hawks to take a 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
Kobe Bryant had 22 points and Andrew Bynum added 19 to help the Los Angeles Lakers overcome a six-point halftime deficit in a 92-88 victory over the Denver Nuggets to lead the Western Conference quarterfinal series, 3-1. Game 5 is set for this Tuesday night at the Staples Center in L.A.
