Red Wings fall to the Blackhawks 4-1
Tomas Kopecky scored twice and Corey Crawford made 36 saves, lifting the Chicago Blackhawks to a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
Cory Emmerton scored in his NHL debut to give Detroit the lead midway through the first. Dave Bolland tied the game later in the period and Kopecky scored two times in the second against his former team to make it 3-1.
Troy Brouwer also scored for defending champion Chicago, which is on a 5-0-1 streak. The banged-up Red Wings have won two of their last six.
The Central Division-leading Red Wings were hoping to add the 35-year-old Nabokov to help out while backup Chris Osgood recovers from hernia surgery and perhaps to push Howard, but lost him to a team that ranks among the league’s worst this season.
