SATURDAY, AUGUST 4 - America's Jamie Lynn Gray won the gold medal in the women's 50m rifle three positions Olympic shooting event. Gray clinched gold with an Olympic record winning score of 691.9, beating Serbia's Ivana Maksimovi, who took silver and the Czech Republic's Adela Sykorova who took the bronze. Gray's victory comes in her second Olympics following a fifth placed finish in Beijing four years ago.

USA's Serena Williams won the gold medal at the Olympics, defeating Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 at Wimbledon and capping the career Golden Slam. She became the second woman to win all four majors and Olympic gold. Steffi Graf completed the feat in 1988.

America's Mike Bryan leaped into his twin brother, Bob's arms after they completed a career Golden Slam by winning the gold medal in doubles, beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Michael Llodra of France 6-4, 7-6 (2). They achieved the Golden Slam - winning all four majors and the Olympics - hours after U.S. teammate Serena Williams accomplished the same feat in women's singles.

The United States won the Olympic swimming women's 4x100m medley relay gold in a world record time of 3 minutes & 52.05 seconds. The American quartet of Missy Franklin, Rebecca Soni, Dana Vollmer and Allison Schmitt improved on the previous record of 3:52.19 set by China in winning the world title in Rome in 2009.

Michael Phelps headed into retirement the only way imaginable - with an 18th gold medal. Reclaiming the lead with his trademark butterfly stroke, the one seen in his Olympic debut as a 15-year-old in Sydney a dozen years ago, he capped off a stellar career with a victory in the 4x100-meter medley relay along with his U.S. teammates Matt Grevers, Brendan Hansen, and Nathan Adrian.
