A pair of shutouts keeps Tigers one game back of Sox

By shutting out Cleveland, thanks to Justin Verlander's pitching, the Detroit Tigers are now riding a three-game winning streak. However, the Chicago White Sox produced a shutout of their own against Minnesota and reduced their magic number to 19. Still one game behind Chicago in the AL Central Division, Detroit aims to continue the winning streak this Saturday afternoon in Cleveland.
AL EAST - Baltimore & the N.Y. Yankees remain tied for first in the division, despite losing their respective games.
AL WEST - Even though both Texas & Oakland won their games, the Rangers improved their magic number to 16 and remain three games ahead of the A's.
AL WILD CARD - With a 9-7 win over Kansas City, the L.A. Angels kept pace in the wild card race behind Oakland & the top two teams in the AL East with a magic number of 16 still against them.
NL EAST - The Atlanta Braves made sure Washington's magic number stayed at 11 with a 2-1 win.
NL CENTRAL - With Cincinnati & St. Louis both losing, the Reds reduced their magic number to 7.
NL WEST - San Francisco & the L.A. Dodgers both won, but it was the Giants who improved their magic number to 11.
NL WILD CARD - With a magic number of 17 still against them, the L.A. Dodgers are now only game one game behind Atlanta & St. Louis in the wild card race with a 8-5 over the Cardinals.
