Some would say the Detroit Tigers had a bad day after losing to Cleveland in the 9th inning, 7-6, while the Chicago White Sox ran over Minnesota, 9-2. As a result, the Sox now have a magic number of 16 with a two-game lead on the Tigers in the AL Central Division. On Monday afternoon, Detroit heads back to Chicago to play a make-up game in hopes of regaining momentum in the division before coming back home to Comerica Park Tuesday.
AL EAST - The N.Y. Yankees & Baltimore both won, but it was New York who improved their magic number to 16 with a one-game lead on the Orioles.
AL WEST - The Texas Rangers reduced their magic number to 14 after defeating Seattle, 2-1, while Oakland went down to Baltimore, 9-5.
AL WILD CARD - The L.A. Angels defeated Kansas City, 4-3, but still has a magic number of 14 against them with Oakland & Baltimore holding a 2 & 1/2 game lead on them.
NL EAST - By sweeping Washington over the weekend with a 5-1 final, the Atlanta Braves are now 5 & 1/2 games out of first place in the division, but the Nationals still hold the magic number of 11.
NL CENTRAL - Both Cincinnati & St. Louis won, but the Reds inched closer to a division title with a magic number of 5.
NL WEST - San Francisco & the L.A. Dodgers both lost their respective games, but the Giants' magic number dropped down to 9.
NL WILD CARD - With the L.A. Dodgers losing to St. Louis, Atlanta & the Cardinals now have a magic number of 15.
