With Miguel Cabrera's 41st homerun to help Detroit defeat the Oakland Athletics, 6-2, the Tigers now only two games behind first place in the AL Central Division after the Chicago White Sox were shut out by Kansas City, 3-0. The magic number of 13 is still against the Tigers, but they will look to sweep the A's Thursday afternoon in hopes of pulling within one game in the division.

AL EAST - Baltimore defeated Seattle once again in extra innings, but after sweeping Toronto in a doubleheader, the N.Y. Yankees have regained control of the division with a magic number of 14.

AL WEST - After Detroit defeated Oakland, the Texas Rangers took advantage with a 6-2 win over the L.A. Angels to reduce their magic number to 11.

AL WILD CARD - After losing to Texas, the L.A. Angels find themselves further back from Baltimore & Oakland in the wild card race with a magic number of 11 against them.

NL EAST - Thanks to Washington spliting the doubleheader with the L.A. Dodgers, Atlanta moved to five games behind the Nationals with a 3-0 shutout of Miami, but still have the magic number of 9 against them.

NL CENTRAL - Cincinnati & St. Louis both won, the Reds managed to inch closer to the postseason by improving their magic number to 3.

NL WEST - Even with both San Francisco & L.A. Dodgers winning, the Giants reduced their magic number to 5.
