Jay Bruce hit the homerun that started the Cincinnati Reds toward a 6-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to become the 2012 National League Central Division Champions. Even though Reds manager Dusty Baker spent another day in a Chicago hospital getting treated for an irregular heartbeat, the 63-year-old won his fifth division title as a manager, including two during the last three years with Cincinnati.

Cincinnati's Mat Latos (13-4) allowed six hits and didn't walk a batter in eight innings. Left-hander Aroldis Chapman made his first appearance since September 10th - a tired shoulder had sidelined him - and finished it off by getting Hanley Ramirez to hit into a double play off a 99 mph fastball. Afterwards, the city of Cincinnati, along with their players, celebrated.

Madison Bumgarner struck out six & walked one in 5 2/3 innings and newcomer Marco Scutaro had three hits & three RBIs as the San Francisco Giants defeated the San Diego Padres, 8-4, to become the 2012 National League West Division Champions. It's the Giants' second division title in three years.

Buster Posey and Hunter Pence each hit a sacrifice fly in the 1st inning and Bumgarner tacked on an RBI single in the 2nd inning. Pence singled twice as the Giants won their season-high sixth straight game and moved 26 games above .500 (89-63), the club's best record since finishing the 2003 season 39 games over.
