As Miguel Cabrera continued his hot pursuit of the triple crown with his 44th homerun, the Detroit Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals, 6-3, to become the 2012 American League Central Division Champions at Kauffman Stadium - the very site where Prince Fielder became the 2012 Homerun Derby Champion. It's the first time since the 1934-35 season that the Tigers won back-to-back division titles. With two games left in the regular season, the Tigers will use those games against the Royals as warm-up for whomever their playoff opponent will be.

Despite being shut out, 2-0, by Philadelphia, the Washington Nationals became the 2012 NL East Division Champions, thanks to Atlanta losing to Pittsburgh, 2-1. The Nationals learned they'd won the NL East at approximately 10 p.m. ET, as they were batting in the bottom of the 9th inning, when it was announced at Nationals Park that the Braves had lost. It's the first time the Nationals won a division title since moving from Montreal (when they were known as the Expos) to Washington, D.C. after the 2004 season. It's the franchise's second division crown in history since winning it back in a strike-shortened 1981 season, by beating the Phillies in a best-of-five playoff series.

Despite Baltimore losing to Tampa Bay and with Oakland defeating Texas, both the Orioles & Athletics have secured, at least, the two wild card spots in the playoffs. Both teams still have the remaining two days left in the regular season to upgrade from a wild card team to a division champion. Baltimore continues to keep pace with the N.Y. Yankees in the AL East while Oakland is still chasing down Texas in the AL West.

NL WILD CARD - While Atlanta secured a spot in the wild card game, now that Washington has won the NL East, the L.A. Dodgers defeated San Francisco, 3-2, to remain in the hunt for the other wild card spot. However, with St. Louis' 4-2 win over Cincinnati, the Cardinals now hold a magic number of 1 over the Dodgers and could clinch the other wild card wih a win this Tuesday night or a Dodgers loss.

AL EAST - With a 10-2 victory over Boston, the N.Y. Yankees now have the magic number of 2 over Baltimore, who lost to Tampa Bay, 5-3. The Yankees can clinch the division this Tuesday night with a win and a Baltimore loss.

AL WEST - Not only did Oakland secure a spot in the playoffs with their 4-3 win over Texas, the A's also moved one game behind the Rangers. With the magic number of 2 still against them, Oakland could either tie for first place this Tuesday night or lose the division crown to Texas.

TUESDAY'S KEY GAMES
Cincinnati at St. Louis - 8 pm
San Francisco at L.A. Dodgers - 10 pm
Boston at N.Y. Yankees - 7 pm
Baltimore at Tampa Bay - 7 pm
Texas at Oakland - 10 pm
