Hunter's clutch hit gives Tigers 7-6 win after wild start

The Toronto Blue Jays roughed up Tiger starter Doug Fister early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in a bat-around 1st inning, but Detroit fired back with six runs of their own in the 2nd inning, including Miguel Cabrera's 26th homerun of the year, and finished it off with Torii Hunter's single in the 8th to give the Tigers a well-earned 7-6 road win.

Toronto's starter Chien-Ming Wang lasted only 1 2/3 innings giving up six runs on eight hits.
Tigers pitcher Al Alburquerque picked up the win in relief, while Joaquin Benoit pitched a scoreless 9th inning for his sixth save on the season.

Despite Cleveland retaining a half game lead in the AL Central after their 6-5 win over Kansas City, Detroit hopes to continue their winning ways and reclaim their top spot in the division this Wednesday night when they send undefeated Max Scherzer (12-0) to the mound to face Josh Johnson (1-2) for a 7 pm start.
