Rasheed Wallace returns to the Pistons as assistant coach
After a few months from retiring as an NBA player, 2004 NBA champion Rasheed Wallace returns to the Detroit Pistins as an assistant coach.
Wallace, 38, will now have a chance to be with the team and watch his kids, who still live in the Detroit area, grow up. Hiring Wallace was the idea of new Pistons head coach Maurice Cheeks, who coached Wallace while both were with the Portland Trail Blazers many years ago.
After seeing the success Piston legends (and NBA champions) Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn had when they were coaches together in the WNBA for the 3-time champion Detroit Shock, Wallace hopes to follow in their footsteps and keep the tradition going.
