Wolverines crush Chippewas; Eagles victorious over Howard
With over 112,000 people in attendance at Michigan Stadium, the #17 Michigan Wolverines destroyed the Central Michigan Chippewas, 59-9. It's the most points scored by a Wolverine team since they posted 63 points against Massachusetts last season.
Michigan's offense scored touchdowns on seven of their first nine possessions while the defense held the Central Michigan out of the end zone and finished with four sacks.
Next Saturday, all of Michigan will remain at the Big House as they host last season's runner-up to the national title, Notre Dame under the lights at 8 pm.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles kicked off their 122nd season on the gridiron at Rynearson Stadium with a successful 34-24 victory over the Howard Bison.
Junior running back Brandon Hill ran 101 yards on 28 carries and scored two touchdowns, while fellow RB Darius Jackson added 64 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Tyler Benz connected on 19 passes in 26 attempts for 210 yards and two touchdown passes.
Next Saturday afternoon, Eastern Michigan will travel to Penn State to play the Nittany Lions at noon.
