54-yard field goal silences Lions in loss to Bengals, 27-24
The Cincinnati Bengals took over near midfield, and three plays later, Mike Nugent made the game-winning 54-yard field goal as time expired to hand the Detroit Lions their second loss in three weeks and third of the season, 27-24.
Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, playing a full complement of snaps for the first time since he sprained his right knee against Chicago three weeks ago, provided most of the offense for Detroit with nine catches for a season-high 155 yards and two touchdowns.
The Lions will remain at home next week when they host the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys inside Ford Field at 1 pm.
