Referees ruin Lions' playoff hopes; Colts take out Bengals Lions-cowboys-flag

The Dallas Cowboys got a win over the Detroit Lions, 24-20, in the NFC Wild Card game for their first playoff win in five years, but they did not do it on their own.

Detroit was driving the field with a 20-17 lead midway through the 4th quarter when referee Pete Morelli announced a pass interference penalty against Dallas' Anthony Hitchens on a 3rd-down pass to Brandon Pettigrew, which would've given the Lions an automatic 1st down. But before Detroit could begin their next play well into Cowboys territory, officials reversed the call at the last second without explanation, leaving the Lions with an akward 4th-down situation.

As a result of the screwjob by the referees, it allowed Tony Romo the opportunity & plenty of time to lead the Cowboys to the game-winning touchdown. Next Sunday afternoon at 1 pm, Dallas heads to Green Bay to play Aaron Rodgers & the Packers in the NFC Divisional game.

Andrew Luck delivered a game-changing touchdown pass and Indianapolis' defense dominated the rest of the game as the Colts defeated the Cincinnati Bengals, 26-10, in the AFC Wild Card game.

The Bengals became the first team in NFL history to lose four consecutive opening-round games. Andy Dalton tied Warren Moon for the most consecutive opening-round playoff losses by a quarterback, dropping to 0-4 all-time.

Meanwhile, Luck went 31-of-44 for 376 yards, and for the first time in four tries, he finished a playoff game without a turnover. He also joined Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, and Drew Brees as the only NFL players with three straight 300-yard games in the postseason. The Colts will play in Denver next Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm.
