Hampton hangs on and Ole Miss rallies to advance to 2nd round
The Hampton Pirates kicked off the First Four round of the 2015 NCAA Men's Tournament in Dayton, Ohio with a 74-64 victory over the Manhattan Jaspers.
Reginald Johnson scored 15 points & made two critical defensive plays down the stretch for Hampton and Quinton Chievous added 15 points & 13 rebounds before leaving with a sprained ankle in the final minutes.
The #16 Pirates (17-17) advanced to the 2nd round of the Midwest region and now faces the challenge of defeating the #1 seed Kentucky (34-0) this Thursday.
Stefan Moody scored 26 points to lead the Mississippi Rebels' comeback from a 17-point halftime deficit to a 94-90 victory over the BYU Cougars in the First Four of the 2015 NCAA Men's Tournament.
M.J. Rhett added a career-high 20 points for the Rebels, including a pair of three-point plays down the stretch.
#11 Mississippi now heads to the 2nd round in the West region to play #6 Xavier this Thursday afternoon.
