Red Wings begin west coast trip in L.A. against the Kings

Detroit's five game in a eight day road trip continues in LA at the Staples Center against the Kings. Red Wings trail season series 2-0, Kings have won three straight while the Wings started the road trip an impressive fashion winning 3-2 in a shootout at Buffalo.

LW Johan Franzen will miss Monday's game in Los Angeles to be with his wife, who is expecting their first child on Sunday. Franzen will rejoin the team for Wednesday's game in Anaheim. Franzen might have been distracted by the situation, since he has gone 12 games without a goal.

Jimmy Howard will be in net, plus a big return in the middle of March for Goalie Chris Osgood who is recovering from a sports hernia had surgery on Jan. 11.
