Chris Kreider, Rick Nash, and Dan Boyle contributed with goals to help the New York Rangers hold on to defeat the Washington Capitals, 4-3, to even their Eastern Conference semifinals series at three.
This was the Rangers' 13th consecutive playoff game that was decided by one goal -- all 11 this postseason, and two last year -- the longest streak in the history of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
New York is set to host Game 7 this Wednesday night at 7:30 pm inside Madison Square Garden, where the winner will move on to the East Finals to face either Tampa Bay or Montreal.
Corey Perry scored his 7th goal of the postseason 2:26 into overtime as the Anaheim Ducks eliminated the Calgary Flames from the playoffs with a 3-2 victory in Game 5 of their Western Conference semifinal series.
Matt Beleskey got the tying powerplay goal early in the 3rd period for the Ducks, who have won eight of their last nine playoff games.
Anaheim will remain home at the Honda Center to host Game 1 of the West Finals against the Chicago Blackhawks, which begins this weekend.
