More rain causes Tigers & Indians to postpone Saturday's game
Once again, the Cleveland Indians had their game postponed against the Detroit Tigers for the second day in a row due to steady rain. With both teams scheduled to play a traditional doubleheader this Sunday, a potential makeup date for Saturday's rainout is currently to be determined.
The Indians and Tigers do not have mutual off-days during the remainder of the regular season. Cleveland's lone remaining day off is on September 21st, but Detroit has a doubleheader scheduled against the White Sox that day. The Tigers have off-days on September 24th and October 1st, but the Indians have games on those dates. The only possibility would be for both teams to play on October 5th, the day after the regular season ends, but only if it's necessary for finalizing the Wild Card picture.
For Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader, the Indians will start Cody Anderson and the Tigers will counter with Justin Verlander. Both starting pitchers were probable for both the Friday & Saturday's games, which were postponed due to rain. Trevor Bauer (CLE) and Randy Wolf (DET) will start Game 2.
