Rookie pitcher Tyler Duffey improved to 5-1 as the Minnesota Twins pulled away late to secure a 6-2 win over the Detroit Tigers. The Twins kept pace with Houston, who also won and is 1 & 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota for the second AL wild card spot.

Detroit's general manager Al Avila announced before the game that Brad Ausmus will return as the team's manager in 2016. Ausmus' future was considered in doubt after the four-time defending AL Central champs fell to last place in the division.

The Tigers will play their final home game of the season at Comerica Park against the Twins this Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.
