Jehu Chesson returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown as the Michigan Wolverines scored on offense & defense to build a four-touchdown lead by halftime in a dominating 38-0 shutout victory over the Northwestern Wildcats.  Michigan has shut out three straight opponents for the first time since 1980.

Freshman LJ Scott scored on a 3-yard run with 43 seconds to play as the Michigan State Spartans (6-0) survived another week in defeating the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 31-24.  MSU's next game will be at the Big House in Ann Arbor against Michigan (5-1) next Saturday.

Zach Terrell threw four touchdown passes as the Western Michigan Broncos held on long enough to defeat the Central Michigan Chippewas, 41-39. CMU (2-4) scored three 4th-quarter touchdowns, the last a 15-yard run by Jahray Hayes with 8:24 left, to get within two, but Western (2-3) was able to run out the clock on a 15-play, 66-yard drive to seal the win.

Thomas Woodson threw four 1st-half touchdown passes and Conor Hundley ran for two more as the Akron Zips capitalized on turnovers to pound the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 47-21. EMU quarterback Brogan Roback threw three touchdown passes and was 23-of-34 for 204 yards.
