Special teams save MSU vs. U-M; CMU & WMU cruise; EMU lose
With 10 seconds left in the game, Michigan punter Blake O'Neill bobbled a low snap, which caused a fumble, and Jalen Watts-Jackson grabbed & ran it into the end zone to keep Michigan State undefeated (6-0) with a stunning 27-23 victory over the Michigan Wolverines.
Quarterback Cooper Rush threw for four touchdowns and ran for one in to help the Central Michigan Chippewas tear apart the Buffalo Bulls, 51-14. Rush was 23-of-30 for 313 yards, running back Martez Walker had 20 carries for 60 yards & two touchdowns, and wide receiver Jesse Kroll caught seven balls for 133 yards and a TD for CMU.
WMU quarterback Zach Terrell scored four touchdowns and Jamauri Bogan ran for a career-high 135 yards and a TD to help the Western Michigan Broncos stomp out the Ohio Bobcats, 49-14. Terrell completed 14-of-20 passes for 137 yards & three touchdowns and added 4-yard scoring run.
Phillip Ely threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns in less than three quarters to power No. 22 Toledo over Eastern Michigan 63-20. Recovered from a broken jaw earlier in the season, EMU quarterback Reginald Bell Jr. completed 16-of-26 passes for 121 yards and rushed for 28 yards on 14 attempts.
