Buffalo's goalie Brian Elliott came within less than 2 1/2 minutes of handing Detroit their first shutout in 69 games as the Blues defeated the Red Wings, 2-1.
Henrik Zetterberg spoiled Elliott's shutout bid with 2:13 remaining with a powerplay goal to pull Detroit within one.
The Red Wings will hit the road as they travel to Buffalo to take on the Sabres this Friday night at 7 pm.
