Tigers hang on to beat Indians, 7-6, despite giving up grand slam
Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homerun in the 5th inning as the Detroit Tigers defeated Cleveland, 7-6, sending the defending American League champion Indians to their sixth loss in seven games.
Alex Avila added a two-run homerun in the 6th inning for Detroit, who played their first night game of the season, and closer Francisco Rodriguez allowed pinch hitter Lonnie Chisenhall to hit a grand slam homerun in the 9th inning before striking out Austin Jackson for his 4th save.
The Tigers (7-3) are set to do battle again at Cleveland this Saturday afternoon at 4 pm.
