Wings' win streak ends at 4 as Nashville wins, 3-1
Danny Cleary scored on a powerplay late in the 1st period to give the Red Wings hope of extending their winning streak to five games, but it wouldn't last as the Nashville Predators took over the last two periods, winning 3-1. Nashville's Blake Geoffrion tied the game at one midway through the 2nd period, followed by a powerplay goal in the 3rd by Jonathon Blum with David Legwand adding in the empty netter.
Despite the loss, the Red Wings hold a comfortable 10-point lead in the Central Division while trailing by only 9 points behind Vancouver for the top spot in the Western Conference. However, Detroit's hold on 2nd place in the conference (94 pts.) was trimmed down by San Jose (90 pts.), who defeated St. Louis on Saturday. The next game for the Wings is against the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are currently in 4th place in the Eastern Conference. The game is set for Monday night at 7:30 pm inside the Joe Louis Arena.
