Women's Elite 8 set: UConn & Duke survive; TAMU & Baylor move on
Maya Moore had 23 points and 14 rebounds, leading the #1 Connecticut Huskies to a 68-63 victory over #5 Georgetown after the Hoyas led by seven in the second half of their Philadelphia regional semifinal of the women's NCAA tournament.
Duke's Karima Christmas led with 23 points & 9 rebounds and Jasmine Thomas scored 19 points as the #2 Blue Devils beat #3 DePaul, 70-63 in the other Philadelphia semifinal to reach the regional final for the second straight year. With the win, Duke has earned a rematch against top-seeded Connecticut on Tuesday night at 7 pm ET with the Final Four at stake.
Texas A&M's Danielle Adams had 23 points and a career-high 14 rebounds as the #2 Aggies built a 31-point halftime lead on the way to a dominating 79-38 win over the #6 Georgia Bulldogs to advance to the finals of the Dallas regional.
Baylor's Brittney Griner scored a career-high 40 points with 10 rebounds & 6 blocked shots as the #1 Bears defeated the #5 Green Bay Phoenix, 86-76 in the other Dallas regional semifinal. Baylor, trying to get to the Final Four for the second year in a row, advanced to play #2 Texas A&M in, litteraly, a Texas showdown on Tuesday night at 9 pm ET in the Dallas regional finals. This game is a rematch of the Big 12 championship game from three weeks ago and their fourth overall meeting this season.
