Niklas Kronwall scored the game-winner with 1:18 remaining in overtime and Chris Osgood stopped a season-high 46 shots in the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche to become the 10th goalie in NHL history to reach 400 wins.
Nicklas Lidstrom, Jiri Hudler and Johan Franzen also scored for the Red Wings, who have won three of their past four games.
Osgood was swarmed by teammates after reaching the milestone win. The 17-year veteran has 316 of his wins with the Red Wings.
Osgood came up big all game, but no more than in the second period when he stopped one point-blank shot after another to keep the game tied at 2. He finished with 23 saves in the period, including a solid backhanded attempts by Philippe Dupuis and Adam Foote.
Detroit took advantage of the Avalanche’s shaky penalty-kill unit in the first period, scoring on two of three power-play opportunities.
Hudler had the first, scoring his second goal of the season, both coming against the Avalanche. Franzen also added a goal, just seven seconds into a power play.
Colorado got on the board early when Duchene took two swipes at a loose puck in front of the net, the second bouncing past Osgood.
Milan Hejduk had an assist on the play in his return to the ice. The forward sat out seven games with a groin injury.
Galiardi also added a goal in the first period, on a wrist shot to the stick side of Osgood. Galiardi is still healing from a fractured right wrist that caused him to miss more than a month.
The Avalanche had a chance at more, but couldn’t convert on a 5-on-3 power play that lasted more than a minute. Osgood turned in one big save after another, including using his chest to thwart a tip attempt by David Jones.
