Leyland gets win #1,500 as Tigers take down A's in ten, 8-4

Jim Leyland reached a milestone that was done in wild fashion on Jackie Robinson Day. After Miguel Cabrera hit a homerun in the 9th inning to tie the game at one, the Detroit Tigers unleashed their offense in the 10th, scoring seven runs, to help their manager get win #1,500 over the Oakland Athletics, 8-4. The only active manager with more wins is Leyland’s close friend, Tony La Russa, who ranks 3rd all-time with 2,645 wins.

Wearing #42, as well as every other player, Tigers' starting pitcher Rick Porcello, who gave up 5 runs in 5 innings in each of his two previous starts, went six innings & allowed seven hits on 103 pitches.

With the milestone achieved, the Tigers will look to climb above .500 when they play the A's for the third time in this 4-game stretch. Game is set for Saturday night at 9 pm ET.
