Montreal forces Game 7; Flyers & Canucks enter Round 2
Michael Cammalleri and Brian Gionta each scored 5-on-3 goals as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins, 2-1 to force a Game 7 Wednesday night to decide their first round series.
Flyers goalie Brian Boucher stopped 26 shots as Philadelphia advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7 of their first round series. The Flyers, as well as the Washington Capitals, will learn who they will face after the two Game 7s on Wednesday night (Montreal at Boston & Tampa Bay at Pittsburgh).
Alex Burrows scored his second goal 5:22 into an overtime in which he started the extra session in the penalty box as the Vancouver Canucks avoided a historic playoff collapse by knocking the Chicago Blackhawks out in the first round with a 2-1 win. Knowing that there will be a new Stanley Cup champion, the Canucks will face the Nashville Predators next while the Detroit Red Wings, who finished the first round a week ago, head to San Jose to take on the Sharks to begin the Western Conference semifinals.
