Tigers fall short once again in Colorado, 5-4

For the second night in a row, the Detroit Tigers had trouble getting Colorado's starting pitcher out. Ubaldo Jimenez smacked a two-run, two-out single in the second inning to give the Rockies an early lead. Colorado never gave up its lead and won, 5-4.

Along with his bases-loaded single to give his team an early lead, Jimenez also drew a walk, one of seven allowed by Tigers starter Phil Coke. In fact, Coke struggled with control for much of his five innings. He loaded the bases in the second on eight straight balls. When Coke finally found the strike zone, Jimenez smashed the ball out into the crowd.

In the sixth inning, Ryan Raburn mashed a bases-loaded double that brought home two runs and narrowed Detroit's deficit to 4-3. Jhonny Peralta, who was running from first, was tagged out at home plate.
