The Washington Capitals tore into the Detroit Red Wings at the Verizon Center by delivering one blow after another to win, 7-1 to remain the only undefeated team in the NHL.
The Red Wings came into town with a five-game winning streak after beating Columbus the previous night at home.
Niklas Kronwall scored for Detroit on a power play and Nicklas Lidstrom earned an assist in what was his 1,500th career game.
