Red Wings recall goaltender MacDonald from Grand Rapids

The Detroit Red Wings announced that goaltender Joey MacDonald, 31, has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). In five appearances with Grand Rapids this season, MacDonald has amassed a 3-2-0 record to go along with a 1.98 G.A.A., a .935 SV% and one shutout.
In 87 career NHL games with Detroit, Boston, Toronto, and the New York Islanders, MacDonald has earned 23 victories in addition to a 3.19 G.A.A. and a .902 SV%. Last season, the Pictou, NS native went 5-5-3 with the Red Wings while registering a career-best G.A.A. of 2.58 and a SV% of .917. Detroit re-signed MacDonald to a two-year contact extension this past summer.
