No-call penalty leads to Red Wings loss to Minnesota in OT
Devin Setoguchi’s power-play goal 1:33 into overtime gave the Minnesota Wild a 2-1 comeback win over the Detroit Red Wings at the Joe Louis Arena.
It was Detroit’s fifth consecutive loss in which they’ve only scored five goals. The Wild beat the Red Wings 1-0 in Minnesota on Saturday night.
The overtime goal, however, was surrounded by controversy when Minnesota's Mikko Koivu smacked Niklas Kronwall up high, knocking his helmet back and sending Kronwall falling to the ice as Koivu got the puck to Setoguchi for the winner. Kronwall was battling for the puck when it happened and no penalty was called.
Nicklas Lidstrom got the Red Wings’ only goal and Jimmy Howard made 25 saves.
