Titan women destory Vikings in HL quarterfinals, 79-43
Using the men's team winning the Horizon League championship as motivation, head coach Autumn Rademacher led her #2 Detroit Titans to a dominating 79-43 win over the #7 Cleveland State Vikings at Calihan Hall in the 2012 Horizon League Women's Quarterfinals.
Five players finished in double figures for Detroit, led by Horizon League Freshman of the Year Shareta Brown with 19 points. Defense was the speciality for the Titan women as they held the Vikings to just 12% field goal shooting in the first half for a 34-11 lead at halftime.
Coach Rademacher had her girls focus on defense so hard in the first half that Cleveland State had only two field goals in a 17-minute stretch. Meanwhile, the Titans shot 55% for the game.
Up next for Detroit will be against Wright State this Friday evening at 6 pm in the Horizon League semifinals to be played in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
