Panthers rally & Coyotes win in OT to take 2-1 leads
Brian Campbell scored on a 2nd-period powerplay as the Florida Panthers rallied from an early three-goal deficit to defeat the New Jersey Devils, 4-3 on behind a 19-save performance in relief by Scott Clemmensen over the final 54 minutes. Not only did the Panthers take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, they did it by sending Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur to the bench after only 22 minutes.
Marian Hossa had passed the puck and turned just slightly when Phoenix's Raffi Torres delivered a crushing blow with his shoulder that left the Chicago's Marian Hossa crippled on the ice. After Hossa was hauled off the ice on a stretcher, the Blackhawks were left short-handed and the Coyotes took advantage, thanks to a short-angled goal from Mikkel Boedker that gave them a 3-2 win in overtime and a 2-1 Western Conference quarterfinal series lead.
