Tigers blow comeback twice in extras as Orioles win, 8-6
Even after tying the game at four in the 9th inning after trailing 4-1 for the most part of the game and leading twice in the extra innings, a walk-off two-run homerun by Baltimore's Taylor Teagarden ended the Detroit Tigers’ 6-game winning streak as they lost, 8-6 to the Orioles in 13 innings.
The game took 4 hours & 43 minutes to complete. The Orioles got a run in the 11th inning after Detroit scored in the top half, then rallied again in the 13th after Quintin Berry put the Tigers ahead, 6-5 with a two-out RBI single.
In the bottom of the 13th inning, J.J. Hardy ended a 0-for-28 skid with a tying solo homerun off Joaquin Benoit (1-2). After Adam Jones was hit by a pitch with two outs, Teagarden homered over the right-field wall to end the game.
The Tigers will attempt to get back into 2nd place in the AL Central as they wrap up the 3-game series with Baltimore Sunday at 1:30 pm. 2nd-place Cleveland will play at Toronto at 1 pm and the Chicago White Sox (1st place in the AL Central by 3.5 games) will be in Kansas City to play the Royals at 2 pm.
