Burroughs & women's track team win gold for USA

FRIDAY, AUGUST 10 - The USA has a long history of successful Olympic Wrestling campaigns, but they had not won gold in London until Jordan Ernest Burroughs defeated Iran's Sadegh Goudarzi, 1-0 1-0 in the 74kg Freestyle class. After clinching the first period, the 24-year-old picked up Goudarzi in the second period and dumped him off the mat with barely 10 seconds left.

The United States 4x100 women’s relay team obliterated the Jamaicans en route to a world record in the event, capturing gold at 40.82 – shaving .55 seconds off the previous record of 41.37 set by East Germany in 1985. The foursome of Tianna Madison, Allyson Felix, Bianca Knight, and Carmelita Jeter also became the first 4x100 U.S. women's relay to break the 41-second barrier.
