MSU women knocks out U-M; UDM set to face Raiders
Klarissa Bell fired in 20 points to lead the #4 Michigan State Spartans to a 62-46 victory over the #5 Michigan Wolverines in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten women's tournament.
The win sends the Spartans into this Saturday night’s 7:30 p.m. semifinal game against #1 Penn State. The other semifinal game features #2 Nebraska against #3 Purdue. It's the first tiem since 2010 that the top four seeds advanced in the Big Ten tournament.
With a 66-59 victory over #6 Youngstown State, the #3 Wright State Raiders now faces the challenge of the defending Horizon League champion Detroit Titans in the semifinals of the Horizon League tournament. The #2 Titans will kick off the semis at 6 pm ET followed by the other semifinal game between #1 Valparaiso and #4 Green Bay, who held on to defeat #5 UIC in the quarterfinals, 64-63.
In other tournament action, the #8 Oakland women kick off the Summit League quarterfinals against #1 South Dakota State at 1 pm ET, along with the 1st round of the women's MAC tournament featuring #9 Western Michigan visiting #8 Eastern Michigan at 2:30 ET.
