Michigan holds off Syracuse, 61-56, to reach finals
Making its first NCAA Final Four appearance in 20 years, the #4 Michigan Wolverines received a big lift from its bench in defeating the #4 Syracuse Orange, 61-56, in the national semifinals before a crowd of 75,350 at the Georgia Dome.
Freshman forward Mitch McGary earned his third double-double in the last four games, finishing with 10 points and 12 rebounds. He added a career-high six assists against the Orange. McGary had six points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the first half.
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds, and contributed five assists. Sophomore guard Trey Burke added seven points, five rebounds, and four assists.
The Wolverines, the youngest team in this year's tournament, will play the #1 overall seed Louisville Cardinals for the national championship this Monday night at 9:23 pm.
