Scherzer gets win #17 as Tigers sweep Indians, 10-3

Max Scherzer won his 17th game of the season, pitching seven outstanding innings as the Detroit Tigers swept the 4-game series with a 10-3 against the Cleveland Indians. Scherzer allowed just two runs on four hits on 100 pitches as Detroit defeated Cleveland for the 12th time in their last 13 meetings.

The Tigers got to Zach McAllister in the 3rd inning by scoring six runs and they also put up two more runs in the 4th and 5th innings. Miguel Cabrera led the Tigers with three RBIs to help Detroit obtain a 7-game lead in the American League Central Division.

Next stop for the Tigers will be New York to start a 3-game weekend series with the Yankees. Detroit will send Rick Porcello (8-6) to the mound this Friday night to face Ivan Nova (5-4) for a 7 pm start.
