Weiss' OT goal completes rally as Red Wings beat Carolina, 3-2
Stephen Weiss completed a hard-fought rally when he scored with 1:47 left in overtime at the PNC Arena to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes after trailing 2-0 earlier in the game. Henrik Zetterberg got the Wings past regulation with a mad-scramble goal that stopped the clock with 16.4 seconds left, a minute after Jimmy Howard had left his station for an empty-netter situation.
Zetterberg started the rally by setting up Justin Abdelkader's goal in the opening minute of the 3rd period, after Radek Dvorak and Nathan Gerbe had scored twice on Carolina's first 12 shots.
With a 2-0 start to the 2013-14 season in the Eastern Conference, the Red Wings will head to Boston to face their Original Six rival Bruins this Saturday night at 7 pm.
