Tigers even ALCS with 7-3 win; Dodgers avoid elimination
After Tigers manager Jim Leyland moved Austin Jackson from the leadoff spot to eighth in the batting order, Detroit scored five runs in the 2nd inning off Red Sox starter Jake Peavy and a four-pitch walk to Jackson with the bases loaded brought home the first run of the game as they defeated the Boston Red Sox, 7-3, at Comerica Park in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series to even it at two.
Jackson finished 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored. Miguel Cabrera batted second for the first time since 2004 and singled twice while driving in two runs.
Before returning to Boston, Comerica Park will host one more ALCS game when the Tigers face the Red Sox in Game 5 this Thursday night at 8 pm.
Adrian Gonzalez homered twice and Zack Greinke came through with the clutch performance as the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off a 6-4 victory over the Cardinals that trimmed St. Louis' NLCS lead to 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.
The series shifts back to St. Louis for Game 6 this Friday night at 8 pm with ace Clayton Kershaw scheduled to start for Los Angeles against rookie Michael Wacha.
