A pair of powerplay goals in the 1st period led to the Detroit Red Wings' downfall as they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-1, which leaves the Wings with a 5-7-6 record at the Joe Louis Arena.
Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby (with two), Evgeni Malkin, and Olli Maatta scored after Niklas Kronwall had given the Red Wings an early 1-0 lead.
Detroit's next game will be this Sunday at 5 pm as Red Wing legend Steve Yzerman brings his Tampa Bay Lightning to the Joe.
