Shootout slump continues as Wings fall to Tampa Bay, 4-3
Steven Stamkos scored twice and Ryan Callahan had the lone shootout goal to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings for their sixth straight victory.
Johan Franzen & Darren Helm both scored on powerplays for Detroit while Gustav Nyquist help the Red Wings tie the game at three midway through the 3rd period to send it into overtime. Goaltender Jimmy Howard finished the night with 27 saves.
Detroit will take the next four days off before returning to action at the Joe Louis Arena this Friday night at 7:30 pm against their Original Six rival Chicago Blackhawks.
