Wings avoid shootout with Nyquist OT goal vs. Ottawa, 3-2
Gustav Nyquist scored with 48 seconds left in overtime to help the Detroit Red Wings defeat the Ottawa Senators, 3-2.
Detroit (19-8-9) got their other goals from Justin Abdelkader and Henrik Zetterberg, but it was the work of goaltender Jimmy Howard and his 31 saves that avoided a Wings loss in regulation.
The Red Wings will head further northeast this Monday night when they travel to Boston to face the Bruins in another Original Six showdown. Game time is set for 7 pm.
