CMU men & EMU women move on to MAC finals; MSU advances 628x471

Chris Fowler scored 26 points as the #1 Central Michigan Chippewas advanced to the 2015 MAC championship with a 75-66 win over the Toledo Rockets.

John Simons added 23 points for Central Michigan, who opened the 2nd half with a 13-3 run and moved into their first MAC title game in 12 years.

The Chippewas (23-7), seeking their first MAC championship since 2003, will play #2 Buffalo, who defeated Akron, 68-59, in the other MAC semifinal.  Game time for the title match is set for 7:30 pm.

The #6 Eastern Michigan Eagles made MAC Tournament history by becoming the first-ever sixth seed to make it to the MAC Championship after earning a 75-65 victory over the #2 Ball State Cardinals at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

EMU sophomore Cha Sweeney became the all-time MAC Tournament scoring leader after scoring 25 points against the Cardinals to surpass former EMU player Tavelyn James, who recorded 83 points in the 2011 tournament.  Sweeney currently has 99 points in the tournament.

The Eagles (22-11) will now head to the MAC Championship this Saturday afternoon where they will take on #1 Ohio, who defeated Buffalo in the other MAC semifinal, 63-55.  Game time is set at 1 pm.
