Jose Iglesias had four hits and Alex Avila scored four runs as the Detroit Tigers recorded their first ever back-to-back shutout wins to start a season with an 11-0 annihilation of the Minnesota Twins.
Detroit's starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez (1-0) allowed just three hits and two walks in 6 2/3 innings while striking out six batters. Meanwhile, Minnesota's Ricky Nolasco (0-1) gave up six runs and six hits in three-plus innings, walked four, and struck out only two batters.
The Tigers will wrap up their three-game series with the Twins this Thursday afternoon at 1 pm, provided they can get the game underway. Thunderstorms are in the forecast during that time.
