Blackhawks go all night to even series vs. Ducks in 3OT, 3-2
Marcus Kruger knocked in Brent Seabrook's shot 16:12 into triple overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks earned a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Chicago's goalie Corey Crawford made 60 saves while Anaheim's Frederik Andersen made a career-high 53 saves.
The game was the longest game in Chicago's 89-year history. It was also the longest game in history at the Honda Center as well as the 17th-longest in NHL history. The last time a NHL game went all night was seven years ago when Dallas and San Jose went four overtimes.
The Blackhawks almost won the game in double overtime when Andrew Shaw actually headbutted the puck into the net during a mad scramble, but the referees waved it off, stating the goal was illegal because it was intentional. The NHL rules prohibit players from deliberately knocking the puck into the net with anything except their sticks.
With the series tied at one and after only several hours of rest, both teams will head to Chicago for Game 3 this Thursday night at 8 pm.
