Ladies take center stage as 9 more tournaments begin Thursday

Ladies first! The women of the Big Ten, led by regular season champion Michigan State, will begin tournament action Thursday, March 3rd from the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. The 1st seed Spartans, along with #3 Michigan, have a bye in the first round & will begin play in the quarterfinals on Friday. In addition, 5 women's & 3 men's tournaments from 7 conferences are set to start on Thursday.


BIG TEN WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT - FIRST ROUND

#6 Wisconsin vs. #11 Illinois
#7 Purdue vs. #10 Indiana
#8 Northwestern vs. #9 Minnesota

On Friday, March 4th, #4 Iowa take on #5 Ohio State in the quarterfinals while #1 Michigan State, #2 Penn State, & #3 Michigan will face the winners of the first round. The semifinals will be played on Saturday, March 5th, followed by the championship on Sunday, March 6th. All of the Big Ten Tournament will be held at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN.


ACC WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT - FIRST ROUND

#5 Georgia Tech vs. #12 Virginia Tech
#6 North Carolina vs. #11 Clemson
#7 Boston College vs. #10 North Carolina State
#8 Virginia vs. #9 Wake Forest

Awaiting the first round winners in the quarterfinals, to be held on Thursday, will be #1 Duke, #2 Miami, #3 Florida State, & #4 Maryland. The semifinals are set for Saturday, March 5th with the championship to be played on Sunday, March 6th. The ACC tournament will be held in Greensboro, NC.

Along with the semifinals, which will be played on Sunday March 6th, both tournaments will take place on the campus of the University of Hartford, except for the championships. The title game for both men & women will be on March 12th from the site of the highest remaining seed.

NORTHEAST (NEC) MEN'S TOURNAMENT - FIRST ROUND

On Friday, #1 Appalachian State & #2 Samford will face the first round winners in the quarterfinals. The same goes for #3 Chattanooga on Saturday as well as a quarterfinal game when #4 Elon takes on #5 Furman. The semifinals will be played on Sunday, March 6th, followed by the championship on Monday, March 7th. The whole SoCon Tournament will be held in Chattanooga, TN.
